We kidnapped Micah for Father's Day.
Not really. We just borrowed her for an afternoon. Alesha and I found out that she loves the playground. She loves almost everything about it, including the stroller ride, but not including the swings. She is at the point where she is walking, but she isn't quite 100% steady on her feet. After figuring out how to walk on the playground sand, she immediately went to the kiddie slide and tried to go up the slide end. The part that made me proud was actually made it. We got her to go up to the medium sized slide; after that she was as focused on getting back up there as a 14-month old can get. She would smile and laugh and head back towards the steps on the contraption. Even though it took her five minutes to get back around and to the top, she wanted nothing other than to get into the top of the slide. (She tried insisting on going down head first, but her uncle would have none of that!)
It was evident how fast she is growing when we went to church that evening. We had stolen our niece on Mother's Day, around the time when she had just started to walk by herself. When Alesha and I walked her across the parking lot, holding our fingers out as hand-holds, her steps were faltering and shaky. She was going to make it across the lot, but it was the very definition of plodding and deliberate. Yesterday, on Father's Day, as soon as our fingers touched her hands, she was off across the parking lot. There was no hesitation, and not even determination; there was just a girl happy to be walking with us across a parking lot.
