We started at 8:00 this morning. Yesterday, the sun was going down when we started. Today it was soooooo much hotter. The biggest difference I could tell was that almost immediately sweat was pouring down my forehead, into my eyes and mask.
We finished most of Burleigh and Lillian's house this morning. Today I worked mostly on the Bill and Sandra's house. She is an art teacher, and lost most of the art she'd done throughout her life in the flood. She didn't even really want to look at them, we were just asked to dispose of most of them.
The whole house was filled with about two feet of seaweed. Under the beds, rancid water had accumulated in the plastic bins. They had been filled with stagnant water for weeks now. And how do you move them? Pick 'em up? You stand a good chance of getting seriously contaminated water on yourself. Pushing them across the floor seems to be the best option.
We originally thought we'd go somewhere else this afternoon, but it looked like we'd need the rest of the day on that house.
