By about 4:45 today, everyone was pretty much exhausted. Personally I wasn't sure I was going to have enough energy to make it through to 6:00, but somehow we all managed. Bill and Sandra's house is probably about 3400 square feet. Some people in our group worked on it a bit yesterday, but most all of the work done to it was done after 8:00 this morning. We cleaned out all the furniture and sea debris out, tore out the carpet, and hauled out the bottom half of all the drywall in the house. Rick made the comment it was fortunate that there aren't any basements down here.
One of the ladies we helped yesterday, Mary Nell, stopped by as we were working. She had bough her house two weeks before the hurricane hit. Most of her belongings were in the garage, which we hauled out. She wanted to thank us again for the moving we'd done.
Bill (who had been at work all day) came home as we were staring the garage, the last room in the house. The flood water in the house had actually picked up the car inside of it and set it down on top of a grill.
We got one last opportunity to pray with Bill, Sandra, Burleigh, and Lillian before we left. What a wonderful time it will be when we come back to visit on future trips and see all the progress that has been made!
We put in 160 man hours today. We'll move to a new site tomorrow. I for one am looking forward to a hot shower and sleeping well tonight.
