Well nothing has happened to change my opinion of this country. We went and visited Deidre's second-cousin, Tom, and his family, Mary Cleary, Tòmas (pronounced "to-MAS"), Mary Rose, and Dorothy. They are another fabulous family. They live on a dairy farm; my shoes did not come out unscathed.
Tom was kind enough to take me on a tour of the place. It brought back some memories. My great-grandmother lived on a farm we visited a couple of times, and my dad's side of the family are pretty much all farmers. Tom also showed me some of the tractors he was restoring. Growing up, whenever we would go to fairs, dad would take us out to see the tractors. He always got excited about all of the tractors he remembered from growing up. That certainly brought back some great memories.
More notes about Ireland: They use Celcius and Euros, but distances are in miles, not kilometers. The lights for the bathrooms are on the outside of them. And "having a crack" has nothing to do with illicit drugs. It's slang for having fun.We are now headed to the house of Deidre's cousin Seamus. They will be going out to a pub tonight. Unfortunately, I will probably not be going; I need to rest up for my travels tomorrow. It looks like we're going to go to the castle Braveheart was filmed at. After that, we're off to Dublin. Everyone has recommended whiskey before I head off to bed to fix me up. When in Ireland, do as the Irish, right?
